Across the nation yesterday (Feb 3), thousands of high school seniors signed NLI’s to continue their playing careers at college and universities across the country. Two of those athletes came from our own backyard. The Mustang Athletic Department would like to congratulate seniors, David Swaby and Dandrell (DJ) Johnson who both signed National Letters of Intent.
DAVID SWABY
At 6’8, 305lbs, David has signed with the University of New Mexico for football. David is listed as the tallest player on the New Mexico roster and will be a member of the offensive line for the 2016 season.
DANDRELL JOHNSON
At 5’10, 220lbs, Dandrell has signed with New Mexico Highlands University for Wrestling. Even though Salesian has not had a wrestling a program in about eight years, Dandrell was a top wrestler at his previous school and ranked highly in the state. Dandrell’s past success caught the eye of Highlands coach Doug Moses and his staff, therefore offering him a spot on Cowboys roster for the 2016-17 season.
Congratulations to David and Dandrell for their great accomplishments. Please check back soon for more updates as some of other senior athletes are awaiting offers. The current signing period will end April 1.
