The 2019 Cross Country season is in full stride as the Mustangs have already shown vast improvement from the 2018 Season.
A week and a half ago, the Mustangs opened their season at the Fastback Shootout held at Arcadia County Park. The team was led by Junior Anthony Navarro, and Senior’s, Roy Garcia and Christian Farias. Anthony Navarro and Mike Franco (sophomore), both medaled at Arcadia, however, the team had other plans in mind for the following week at the Bosco Tech Invitational, which took place this past Saturday. Out of 11 schools, the Mustangs had the best-combined team score and secured the overall team championship at Santa Fe Dam. Junior Anthony Navarro ran the fastest time for the Mustangs and was the third-fastest runner of the day out of 178 runners! Many other Mustangs won individual medals as well. Coach Antonio Ochoa commented, “The team has improved on their overall speed and are running as a unit, narrowing the team gap.”
The team will be back in action this weekend as they travel up to Morro Bay to participate in the Morro Bay High School Invitational. eight of the thirteen runners selected to participate will make up the varsity team along with five making up the frosh team. The frosh team will be led by Owen Chacon along with Max Lopez, Karol Arambula, Angel Anguiano, and Elias Calderon.
